Description
On May 2nd Canadians will cast their votes in the fourth federal election in just seven years. While all five national parties have been shouting themselves hoarse on the hustings, as is usual in such campaigns, defence issues have been largely ignored. The only real hot button item debated throughout this battle for the ballot box has been the Conservative government's decision to commit Canada to the multi-billion dollar procurement of 65 F-35 Joint Strike Fighters. The Liberals say they'll scrap the deal if they get elected. The NDP claim they will hold a competition to determine the right aircraft to replace our aging CF-18s. And the Bloc Quebecois do not care which plane Canada buys (as long as it means aerospace jobs in Quebec).
